Monticello and The Michie Tavern
Shenandoah National Park
We were really lucky with our weather. We had a lot of gorgeous days. Unfortunately, the day we were in Shenandoah, we were socked in by fog the whole day. We still drove the entire 105 miles through the park.
I did get just a few photos of the valley at the beginning of our drive. After we started, we were really whited out.
Luray Caverns, Luray, VA
The caverns were discovered in 1878. It is not the ecologically pristine environment that Kartchner Cavern's has, but it is amazing! There are rooms with ceilings 10 stories high. There is amazing formations, lakes that are shallow, but so still they perfectly reflect the formations. There is a stalacpipe organ, that they use to make music. Weddings are sometimes held down here.
