Our book club has been in existence for 30 years! I have been in it the whole time. We enjoy our group so much that we decided to plan a literary trip to LA to celebrate. This is our group as we started out from Phoenix. I have a lot of photos, because I wanted to document it all. A few are out of order.
This was Dinner at Clifton's Cafeteria after the Festival of books.
Erica and I.
Erica thought we should have some kind of cute sign to take a photo with. She came up with a cute idea.
We were able to get a large bungalow that was built in 1903 through Air BNB. It was near USC where the festival of books was and it was fun to all be in the same house. The neighborhood was a little borderline, but we did fine.
We had dinner the first night at Musso and Frank's in Hollywood. It has been around for more than 100 years. It was known as a literary hangout for famous writers converting their works to movies.
Saturday morning, We went to the Festival of Books on the USC campus. It was amazing and free! There were many famous speakers, music, children's area, Youth area, live performers, interviewers, panel discussions. We had a great time.
Sunday morning we went to Church and then to the Huntington. We enjoyed all the beautiful gardens, art and museum.
And of course High tea! We went to another book store, Vrooman's in Pasadena that evening and dinner at Umami Burger. Monday morning we went to a well known paper store, McManus and Morgan. They make and sell handmade papers from around the world and the last known letter press in LA is next door and uses their paper.
We explored the downtown LA library and then headed home.
It was an awesome trip! Already thinking of future possibilities!
