Evening Show at The Calgary Stampede
Evening show opening
Calgary Stampede Rodeo
First Nations at Calgary Stampede
At the evening program, they had the Indian relay races. They were amazing. The same rider rode three different horses, bareback around the track. Here is a link.
Indian Relay RacesLake Louise and Lake Moraine
You could rent a canoe and paddle around, but first I would rather paddle a kayak but second, It was over a 100$ for half an hour. A ridiculous price. We enjoyed watching others.
The chateau is the historic hotel here and has beautiful views. I really wanted to eat lunch with a view of the lake. We tried the restaurant inside, but they were only taking hotel guests. We lucked out though, the downstairs restaurant had a patio and we got a front seat view of the lake. It was heaven.Chuck Wagon Races
We had an amazing time at the Calgary Stampede. But the thing that was the MOST amazing to me was the Chuck Wagon Races. When I heard of this, I thought it would be draft horses. Instead, it was teams of 4 thoroughbred races horses, running flat out around a race track. It was jaw dropping to watch. They ran 8 heats every night for 10 days. We were there on Day 7. I thought I took several videos with my camera, but don't seem to have any. But I downloaded this link from YouTube with the top three heats from the night we were there. It's better video anyway. I encourage you to watch. It's amazing.
